Early Entrance to 2013-2014 Kindergarten         

Parents/Guardians are allowed the right to petition for early admission to kindergarten if their child is eligible.

The Mount Horeb Area School Board‘s Policy #421.1 LEGAL AGE, KINDERGARTEN PUPILS requires the following conditions and procedures:

  ●  The child’s fifth birthday should be after September 1 and before January 1, inclusive.

  ●  The child demonstrates academic, social, emotional, physical and mental maturity normally expected for successful participation in kindergarten.

 Procedures required:

  ●  Written request made by the child’s parent(s)/guardian by March 15 to the school district administrator.  (If parent(s)/guardian move into the district after March 15, a request must be submitted at least two weeks  prior to the beginning of the school year).

 ●  Screening, observation and evaluation  by district personnel will determine the eligibility for early entrance to kindergarten.
