Welcome To MH4K

4K Enrollment for the 2017-2018 School Year
Students who turn four on or before September 1, 2017 are eligible to attend our 4K program.  Our program runs Tuesdays through Fridays and we offer AM and PM sessions.     Links to our enrollment paperwork  can be found at the bottom of this page under Announcements.
Welcome to the homepage of the MH4K website.  Mount Horeb Area School District is proud to provide four-year-old kindergarten programming to all interested and eligible four-year-old students in the school district. Four-year-old kindergarten provides children with quality early learning experiences that lay a solid foundation for future success in school. Numerous research studies show long-term benefits for children who participate in high-quality early childhood programs, such as gains in cognition, knowledge, motor skills and language. Offering 4K through the school district ensures universal access to a quality pre-kindergarten program for all four-year-olds.

Mount Horeb Area School District works collaboratively with four community child care centers and preschools to offer four-year-old programming. Participating sites include Agape Christian Preschool, Hearts and Hands Children’s Center, Little Vikings 4K & Childcare, and  Children's Community School. All 4K sites have highly-qualified, DPI-licensed teachers who work with the district on 4K programming.

We have been working hard to create an enriching, developmentally-appropriate 4K program for children. If you still have questions after visiting our webpage, please feel free to call Nicole Tepe, 4K Coordinator at 437-2400 (Ext. 6103) or via email. We look forward to this new experience for our youngest learners.

MH4K Announcements

  • 2017-18 4K Registration

The Mount Horeb Area School District is currently taking enrollments for Four-year-old Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year.  There will be two Parent Information Meetings for incoming 4K families that will occur on January 30, 2017 and January 31, 2017 in the Middle School Step Room at 6:30 PM each night.  The Middle School is located at 900 Garfield Street, Mount Horeb, WI 53572.

The 4K enrollment packets include the student enrollment form,  the 4K enrollment addendum (in which a family  indicates their session and site preferences), the home language survey, transportation form, parent input form, health history form and immunization record form, and are available at the Early Learning Center, the MHASD 4K website, and at the Mount Horeb Public Library.  The student enrollment packet (with the exception of the enrollment addendum, which can be turned in once parents have determined their session and site preferences) should be submitted during either of the Parent Information Meetings.  Please plan to bring your child’s original birth certificate and proof of residency for verification.  Examples of residency documents include utility bill, payroll stub, lease agreement, or driver’s license.  If you are unable to attend either of these nights, you may enroll your child at the Early Learning Center - Main Office (300 Spellman Street) between 8:00-4:00 Monday-Friday.

The 4K enrollment addendum can be turned in once parents have determined their session and site preferences, but must be turned in by March 1st to have their preferences considered.   4K community sites will host site-specific open houses for families to learn more about the site and staff.

If you have any questions about the MH4K enrollment process, please contact Nicole Tepe at (608) 437-2400 ext. 6103 or tepenicole@mhasd.k12.wi.us

Parents have the option to identify the sites and session time they prefer when filling out the enrollment packet  by completing the  enrollment addendumWhile we strive to accommodate requests, we do not guarantee parents will get their top preference. MHASD will make final placement decisions.  Site assignments will be based primarily on previous program enrollment at a site and need for wrap-around services. Other factors that are taken into consideration include (but are not limited to) place of residence, special programming needs, transportation, available openings at the site requested, and site occupancy minimums. Please see our MH4K Placement Standard Operating Procedure for additional information about how we place students at our community sites.  Placement priority will be given to the enrollment forms received within the enrollment window.
