COURSE CREDIT REQUIREMENTS (effective for class of 2020 and beyond)
The District has established standard credit requirements for high school graduation. To graduate from Mount Horeb High School, a student shall complete a minimum of 24 credits that includes the following courses and sequencing:
Writing Elective Course
English Elective Course
Modern U.S. History
Foundations of Western Civilization (.5 credit) & Foundations of Non-Western Civilization (.5 credit) OR AP World History (1 credit)
Social Studies Elective Course
Physical Science Course
Life Science Course
Science Elective Course
Additional Elective Credits
Total Credits for Graduation
CIVICS TEST REQUIREMENT
In addition, beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, in order to be eligible for a District high school diploma, a student must have taken and successfully completed the state-required civics test while enrolled in the high school grades in the District or, as determined by the administration, in another qualifying school or program. A student with a disability for whom an individualized education program (IEP) is in effect must also take the civics test, however, his/her graduation shall not be conditioned on the successful completion of the test.
