Kellen Dorner earned his Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. Originally from Sun Prairie, Mr. Dorner is an accomplished woodwind player and jazz educator. Mr. Dorner's teaching responsibilities include conducting the 7th Grade Band, leading the Tuesday Jazz Ensemble (our most advanced jazz group), co-teaching the Middle School Jazz Ensemble, and assisting with Concert Band and Symphonic Band rehearsals. Beyond his teaching duties at Mount Horeb, Mr. Dorner is active as a performer and is a Section Coach for the Wisconsin Middle Level Honors Band.
Patty Schlafer earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Ms. Schlafer is a horn player who has been a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and the Madison Symphony Orchestra. Her teaching responsibilities include 6th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band and co-teaching the Middle School Jazz Ensemble. Ms. Schlafer is a member of the Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance (CMP) Committee that presents pedagogical workshops throughout Wisconsin and the midwest.
Will Janssen earned his Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and a Master's degree from National University. Mr. Janssen is Director of Bands at the high school and as such conducts all concert bands, the marching and varsity bands, the Thursday Jazz Ensemble and the Dixieland Combo. Outside of school, he is a Regional Vice President for the Wisconsin Music Educators Association, is active as an adjudicator and clinician for the Wisconsin School Music Association, and has served as Chair of the Wisconsin Honors Music Project.
