Congratulations to Madelyn LaBorde on her state qualifying race in the 300 hurdles.  Go Vikings!

The answer to Heather's Weekly Wacky Trivia Contest this week is:  Some people believe that the word, "cop", comes from the copper badges that New York City police officers once wore.  However, it is actually a derivative of the Latin word, "capere", which means to capture or seize and has been used to refer to police officers for over 300 years.

Attention all mentor applicants, letters have been mailed.  Please look for yours to arrive in the next few days.

Do you want to have an epic book battle? Come down to the library and drop some coins into your favorite book's jar. Coins add and dollars reduce. All money will be given to the Madison Reading Project which supports child literacy.” I’ll Give You the Sun” is currently in the lead but “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” is catching up quickly. That leaves “Everything Everything”  in last place.

This is the final week to check out library materials. No materials will be checked out to students after the Memorial Day weekend. Please renew or return any overdue materials as soon as possible.

Every 30 seconds another person becomes a victim of human trafficking and is forced into slavery. Project Respect helps those who have been trafficked recover and start their lives over again. We need your help to gather clothing for women and children (especially plus sized clothing), jewelry, shoes, household items such as sheets, blankets, pillows, and bath items such as shampoos, conditioners, and lotions. Please drop these items by the office and help provide new beginnings to those whose lives were taken away from them.
